Villa Paterno is a large four bedroom duplex overlooking the splendid Arno Valley. Once the home of the Vallambrosian monks the newly renovated Villa Paterno is a magnificent property located in a quaint town, 28 kilometers southeast of Florence, and only 5 kilometers from Pontassieve. It is also within a 10 minute drive of the famous factory outlets offering greatly discounted labels from Armani, Yves St Laurent, Valentino, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana and many other world class designers.

The villa has been divided into two separate residences. Your hosts, the gracious English speaking owners Alberto and Antonella and their sweet and gentle dog Ghita, live discreetly and unobtrusively on the lower floor. The private first floor is the part of the villa which is rented.

The 300 square meter upper floor has its own separate and autonomous entrance at ground level and is laid out in such a way as to ensure complete privacy. Through majestic double doors you enter the main hall in the corner of which is a beautifully restored private chapel that can still be used for religious functions. A wide sweeping staircase leads upstairs to the accommodation.

The four bedrooms (two have twin beds) sleep 8 people. They are spacious and airy with breathtaking views from every window and are elegantly and tastefully furnished. There are three large luxurious bathrooms/showers. There is a billiard room and large comfortable sitting room with an open fireplace.
The elegant main dining room is beautifully furnished and has seating for 12 or more people with double doors opening onto a large outdoor panoramic terrace, measuring 50 square meters, and overlooking the gorgeous Arno valley and the hills beyond. This terrace, furnished with table, chairs, parasol and barbeque is an ideal place to dine, relax, read or watch the sun set over the hill top villages nestling among the cypresses, olive groves and vines that are the backdrop to this stunning landscape. It also connects to the large, airy, well equipped kitchen.

Guests have use of an extremely large swimming pool (10 X 20 metres) furnished with sun loungers, tables, umbrellas, and shower as well as a changing room equipped with shower/toilet and fridge.
Villa Paterno is surrounded by 5,000 square meters of private grounds incorporating vine covered pergolas and olive groves (the owners make their own wine and olive oil!). The wonderfully productive fruit and vegetable garden provides not only for the needs of the house but guests are also free to eat and enjoy the fruits of its harvest.
